Re: RIP

Diane Ladd (89)
After her stunning turn as the waitress Flo [Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore], she earned two more Academy Award noms for her performances opposite daughter Laura Dern in Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose: "She is flying with her angels now.”(...)
Ladd made her film debut in The Wild Angels (1966), one of Roger Corman‘s youth-oriented motorcycle dramas. Her co-stars were Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra and Bruce Dern.

Sally Kirkland (84)
“David O. Selznick had been my mentor since I was 18, and he was giving me advice” (...). “He was telling me from when I started, when I was a kid, ‘You’re not going to make it as an ingénue because you’re too tall and men don’t like tall women, so you’re going to have to wait until you’re middle aged and then they’re going to let you be a star.’ Sure enough, I was 44 years old when I did Anna.”
The actress won her first Golden Globe and received an Academy Award nomination for her starring performance in Anna, later earning another Golden Globe nom for her lead role in The Haunted (1991). (...)
“It was really great being with Andy Warhol in 1964 and being one of The 13 Most Beautiful Women for him and asking him to do publicity for Anna (...) We didn’t really have any budget for publicity, and Andy had a television show called [Andy Warhol’s Fifteen Minutes], and he let me and Paulina Porizkova come on the show and interview each other. (...)
Kirkland went on to roles in such films as Blue (1968), The Way We Were (1973), The Sting (1973), A Star Is Born (1976), Hometown U.S.A. (1979), Private Benjamin (1980) (...) JFK (1991), Excess Baggage (1997), EDtv (1999), Bruce Almighty (2003), Suburban Gothic (2014) and 80 for Brady (2023) (...).
