Directed by Wellson Chin (The Inspector Wear Skirts), Tamagotchi has little to do with its English title, but it does have many of the hallmarks of 90s low-budget Hong Kong horror. The film stars comedian-turned-actor Dayo Wong, who appeared in a fair number of horror films in his early days before becoming box office king. Of course, horror icon Law Lan is in the film, along with Ruby Wong and child star Mandy Wong:
Tingting (Mandy Wong), whose family runs a coffin shop, has been absent from school for many days. Teacher Tsui (Law Lan) visits her home and finds the girl's family members all dead in shocking manner. Social worker Sam (Ruby Wong) follows up on the case for Tingting, who has stopped talking and shows signs of severe abuse. Police officer Man (Dayo Wong) arranges for his girlfriend Sam to meet with the traumatized Tsui to try to understand the situation. Bizarre incidents occur one after another. HERO habe ich schon seit ein paar Jahren. Die japanische BD mit englischen Untertiteln und O-Ton. Qualität ist erstklassig. Wenn das Ding hier auch so wird, dann zugreifen.

Kennt jemand den anderen Film?

HERO kommt noch von einem westlichen Label. Also wer nicht nur eine Barebones-Scheibe will. BROAD DAYLIGHT ist ein graues Sozialdrama, dem angesichts der Schwemme ähnlicher Filme in den letzten Jahren einfach Profil fehlt, wenn auch gut gemeint.
