Die Reviews kommen bisher alle aus Cannes, ist also schon ein strengeres Publikum, aber die CGI-Kommentare verheißen nichts Gutes:

The de-aging and other CGI manipulations of Ford’s body only serve to demonstrate that Dial of Destiny just wants to turn back the clock instead of doing anything new.

There are so many chase sequences... that the movie seems held together with slender bits of plot, rather than the other way around. Worse yet, they’re so heavily CGI’ed that they come off as grimly dutiful rather than thrilling or delightful.

Scurrying to save himself and rescue his professorial Brit pal Basil Shaw (Toby Jones), Indy ends up in a death match with a Third Reich heavy on top of the train as it speeds through a long mountain pass. But any adrenaline rush that extended set-piece might have generated is killed by the ugly distraction of some truly terrible CG backgrounds. The foundations of this series are in Spielberg’s overgrown-kid playfulness with practical effects. The more the films have come to rely on a digital paintbrush, the less hair-raising their adventures have become.

Does it work, though — in a way that Crystal Skull’s climax didn’t? Sort of! It depends if you are willing to go with it. This is a series that has always gestured towards fantasy. It was conceived by Spielberg and Lucas as a homage to their beloved 1940s serials, cinema as pulp, and this bold-as-brass ending fits comfortably into that tradition. Importantly, it feels true to Indy as a character. In the end, it seems to suggest, it wasn’t about fortune and glory at all, but finding your own little corner of history. And Indy, one way or another, has found it.
Indy’s final date with destiny has a barmy finale that might divide audiences — but if you join him for the ride, it feels like a fitting goodbye to cinema’s favourite grave-robber.

Gesehen. Ich weiß nicht, wann ich das letzte Mal mit solch einem breiten Grinsen im Kino saß. Die komplette Lauflänge! Doch, bei KANDAHAR.
Ich finde den Film wirklich gut. Besser als er meines Erachtens nach ist. Der fängt den alten Indy-Geist vorzüglich ein, es ist ein richtig schöner altmodischer Abenteuerfilm. Mit einem feinen Schurken noch dazu. Nazi-Maddse ist eine Wucht! Score vom Feinsten, der Film sieht zu großen Teilen besser als der miserable Vorgänger aus und außerdem setzt er der Reihe einen würdigen Abschluß.

Klar, die Szenerie nach der

ist total banane und wirkt wie aus einem anderen Film, aber ... EGAL! Dazu ist der auch noch recht hart, meine Herren. Unbedingte Kinoempfehlung. Aber klar ist natürlich auch, daß das kein Film für alle ist. Onion wird im Strahl in Steaks Nacken kotzen. Gut so.
