Back in May came the news that Sylvester Stallone will reprise his iconic role as Search-and-Rescue mountain climber Gabe Walker from 1993’s “Cliffhanger” for a direct sequel.

Now a new report at Screen indicates the project has set a Summer 2024 shoot in Europe with director Jean-Francois Richet (“Plane,” 2005’s “Assault on Precinct 13”) now on board – replacing Ric Roman Waugh (“Angel Has Fallen,” “Greenland”).

In the movie, Gabe is now living in the Dolomites where he runs an exclusive mountain lodge. When Gabe and a high-profile client are taken hostage during an adventurous weekend trip, his daughter has to use all her climbing skills to outwit the kidnappers, triggering a battle of life and death.

Mark Bianculli (“The Good Neighbor,” “Hunters”) remains attached as the writer of the film which is being set as a German-British co-production.

Black Magic Films, Supernix and Original Films are backing the project with more than half of the shoot being located in Bavaria – at the Penzing Studios and in Munich’s city centre.
