Ich meinte bloß das offensichtliche gay baiting - das sollte ironisch sein, hätte ich nicht vergessen Kevin Spacey zu erwähnen, der die Nummer schlecht bringen kann (Spacey wurde in dem Podcast lobend erwähnt).
Seltsamerweise hatte ich außerdem eine falsche Assoziation, ich war überzeugt Boll hätte den Kannibalen von Rotenburg verfilmt. Noch nicht!

But instead of providing any meaningful commentary or even a coherent narrative, Boll transforms the tale into a grotesque mix of poorly choreographed slapstick and unintentionally hilarious melodrama.
Armie Hammer, clearly leaning into the most ill-advised role of his career, seems to think method acting involves a literal buffet table. His portrayal of the Rotenburg Cannibal is equal parts bewildering and deeply unsettling—not for its authenticity, but for the sheer awkwardness of his performance. One can’t help but wonder if Hammer took the role to reclaim the “cannibal” headlines or if Boll simply promised him free snacks on set.
Kevin Spacey, making what must be the most baffling career decision since... well, his last project, plays the victim with the same smarmy charm he’s brought to every other role—except this time, it feels like he's trying to seduce the audience into forgiving him. Spacey's character spends much of the runtime delivering overwrought monologues about “consent” and “destiny” while being prepped for dinner. It's hard to tell if his lines are meant to be profound or if Boll just ripped them straight from Reddit forums, filled with lines like “You are what you eat—literally!” delivered with zero irony.
The dialogue is paired with bizarre editing choices, including gratuitous slow-motion shots of sausages being grilled, a techno soundtrack that feels ripped from an early-2000s workout DVD, and inexplicably, a recurring animated sequence where a cartoon Armie Hammer debates morality with a dancing bratwurst. By the time the final credits roll (set to a karaoke version of Rammstein’s “Mein Teil,” of course), you’ll be left wondering why this film exists—and why you subjected yourself to it. Avoid this film like an undercooked steak.
